Want...to...run...

I so badly want to run tomorrow, but it's one of my rest days.  Am I really getting addicted already?  Now that I have set my mind to it, have a goal for which to strive, and have started following a regular workout schedule, I'm really enjoying my workouts, especially the running.  The crazy part is that I used to hate running!  It was what I dreaded in high school P.E.  So I don't know what happened.  A bit of maturing, maybe, along with this being a choice rather than something I'm forced to do.

I'll have to find something to do with all this extra energy, assuming I still feel that way in the morning.  Wii Fit, maybe, or running around with my mom's daycare kids.

  1. RESIST THE URGE TO NOT REST!!!! Though it's probably ok now to skip the rest days, it won't be ok to skip it in a few weeks (for several good reasons)... so might as well already be in the routine of resting on Sundays.

  2. Szweda, I don't know what you know and what you don't, so i'm just going to put in my two cents and encourage you toward your goal! Running is a joy to those who really see its worth, as a health tool, as a personal goal you can achieve or as an outlet for energy. Everything that I've read so far looks stellar. I would agree with britt's earlier post as well, I have seen shin splints take out running freaks for months. Better shoes, stretch the muscles in front of the shins, and lots of water can help stave off trouble. Easy way to stretch is to sit in a chair and put your feet as far behind you as possible, toes pointed. you should feel a good deep stretch in the front of your shins.

As a final bit of encouragement, in the words of my running mentor, when downhill, stretch your stride. When uphill, stretch your stride, when hell breaks loose, stretch your stride. You will be amazed at the effects of slowly stretching your stride over the course of a run.

YOU CAN DO IT!!! get pumped!! <3
